There is so much information on the internet these days that it can be quite overwhelming and bewildering for many people to find accurate and helpful content. These are just a few of the websites that we and our clients have found useful and it is by no means exhaustive. When we come across other useful sites, we will add them to this list.

 

 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • ACT Mindfully – This is the website of Russ Harris, a well-known Australian ACT practitioner and author of The Happiness Trap. It explains ACT reasonably well and has other useful links and resources.


Autism

  • Amaze - Amaze is the peak body for autistic people and their supporters in Victoria.


Children, Adolescents and Parents

  • eHeadspace - Free online and telephone support and counselling to young people 12 - 25 and their families and friends.

  • Kids Helpline - Australia’s only free, private and confidential 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.

  • Smiling Mind - One of the world’s leaders in the pre-emptive mental health space and Australia’s go-to expert for youth-based mindfulness programs.


Compassion Focussed Therapy

  • The Compassionate Mind Foundation - Promotes an evolution and neuroscience informed approach to compassion which now forms the basis of a psychotherapy and Compassionate Mind Training.

  • Self Compassion - Website of Kristin Neff, Ph.D. who is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading experts on self-compassion.

Depression and Anxiety

  • Beyond Blue - Provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.

  • Centre for Clinical Interventions – This West Australian government site has self-help workbooks and information sheets on many common psychological problems. Sometimes our clients like to work through the workbooks in collaboration with their psychologist.


Eating Disorders

  • Butterfly Foundation - Represents all people affected by eating disorders and negative body image - a person with the illness, their family and their friends.

  • HAES Australia - Bringing together the highest quality information, training and specialists in Australia for the Health at Every Size® (HAES®) approach - Intuitive Eating and the Non-Diet Approach to health and wellbeing.

  • Eating Disorders Victoria - Connecting those in Victoria who are affected by eating disorders with the services, people and hope they need for recovery.


General Mental Health

  • SANE Australia – This website of a prominent mental health advocacy and outreach charity has loads of factsheets about common psychological disorders.

  • Authentic Happiness – The website of Martin Seligman, founder of Positive Psychology. Here you will find heaps of information about fostering happiness and psychological wellbeing in your life, as well as some useful questionnaires.
