Adult Autism and ADHD Assessments
Prior to First Meeting
Consent and Intake forms are emailed to you, providing an opportunity to tell us about yourself, at your pace, in written form.
A few initial questionnaires will also be sent by email, to allow us to best tailor the assessment to you
You have the option for intake forms and initial questionnaires to be sent to someone who knows you well now, and/or knew you well as a child (parent, partner, friend etc.) Another perspective helps to build a richer understanding but is not crucial for assessment.
Clinical Interview 1 (let’s talk!)
1 hour
This is an opportunity for your Psychologist to get to know you, to discuss your background and history, your strengths and challenges, what you hope to get out of the assessment process, and what resonates for you when thinking about autism and/or ADHD
Prior to Second Meeting
Additional self-guided questionnaires will be sent by email to complete prior to the second interview. These are used to understand your experiences more broadly, and to build a comprehensive evidence-based assessment.
Clinical Interview 2
Around 1.5 – 4 hours
Using validated, evidence-based diagnostic assessment tools such as the MIGDAS-2 and DIVA-5, your Psychologist will guide you through a structured assessment interview to hone in on the diagnostic criteria for autism and/or ADHD.
Time will be included to ensure you have breaks throughout!
Psychologist Report Writing
Your Psychologist will integrate all the information gathered from your intake forms, questionnaires and interviews into a diagnostic report.
This data will be used to assess if criteria has been met to diagnose autism and/or ADHD.
Feedback Session
1 hour
Your Psychologist will present the outcome of your assessment, explain their findings, rationale and recommendations.
You will have the opportunity to ask any questions, to ensure you feel confident in the result.
Post Assessment
It’s important you walk away from this process feeling empowered – so relevant options for next steps, such as possible supports or resources to engage with, will be discussed. At times, this may involve ongoing support through psychotherapy.
